HyGenius is
the complete hand-washing management system that
attaches to any existing hand sink or automatic wash system. Designed to
provide a proper wash for each user, HyGenius verifies individual hand-washing
compliance in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, institutional
and military foodservice, food processing, daycare, clean-room, lab and
sensitive manufacturing environments. HyGenius ensures
consistent hand-washing technique and regular wash frequency by each user.
HyGenius also helps ensure that a proper wash is performed between
glove changes, helping to manage proper gloving and glove changing. How is proper hand-washing controlled? To provide consistent hand-washing from user to user, and to eliminate the common but ineffective "splash and go" technique, HyGenius administers a step-by-step, time and temperature controlled wash each and every time. Automatically, without having to touch bacteria-laden faucet handles or knobs, water flows to allow proper and thorough wetting. Then, the flow of water is automatically stopped and the built-in display instructs the user through the dispensing of soap, lathering/scrubbing, rinsing and drying. A critical factor in
effective washing is the friction created during hand-to-hand
scrubbing which serves to open the pores and loosen bacteria. Another
critical factor is the amount of time spent scrubbing. Only after a
pre-programmed length of time (usually 10 seconds) has passed does the
water begin to automatically flow for rinsing. Following a thorough
rinsing period which carries bacteria and other contaminants down the
drain, the water flow is stopped and the hands can then be dried. Another critical factor
in proper hand-washing is water temperature. HyGenius provides water
within proper temperature ranges which helps to open the pores and
release bacteria during wetting and scrubbing. Should a significant period
of time elapse during which the water may have cooled in the sink faucet
or supply pipes, the system will activate a brief purge cycle bringing
fresh warm water of proper temperature to the faucet. HyGenius incorporates energy efficiency and water conservation into each wash cycle. Built-in logic which stops the flow of water during the lathering and scrubbing phases conserves water that would otherwise go down the drain. The efficient use of water and the energy required to heat it results in savings of over two-thirds the cost of traditional hand-washing. HyGenius reduces water, energy, and sewer costs. In addition, in states that have adopted the 1999-2005 FDA Food Code governing restaurant food safety requirements, the HyGenius AOP is an acceptable alternative to glove use and can save thousands of dollars per location every year while maintaining quality and food safety.
How is proper frequency maintained? HyGenius incorporates
"wash-due" reminders to ensure regular hand-washing by each user
throughout the workday. Any time a person misses a hand wash where minimum
frequency requirements (i.e.- one wash per hour) are in place, an audible
tone will sound and a built-in indicator light will flash while the system
displays that person's ID number for prompt notification by management or
co-workers. In addition, the system can signal the start of an
all-employee handwash at regular intervals. HyGenius provides
management-ready performance Individual user and
overall performance reports, along with long-term trending analysis are
provided to management each week for posting or review with workers.
In addition, "on-demand" reporting by employee range and date range in
